Children unload carts with food bags at the border with Sudan. There, traffic of goods and gasoline is an everyday routine. Chad's newly elected president has shown its proximity to the refugees’ plight by allowing them to settle in the country’s east. At the same time, the government has been accused of facilitating the transfer of weapons from its borders into RSF’s hands in Darfur. As the civil war intensifies in front of the immobility of the international community, a possible expansion of the conflict would be catastrophic for those living in precarious conditions along the frontier.
